i have a 10 gal tank and was wondering if it was to small for any saltwater fish. All i want in there is like one ore two fish. if anyone can help that would be great thanks

Yes..you can..but...as you know, this puts it under the heading of a 'nano-reef' and requires a lot of work. You need live rock for filtration, and, depending on the fish size, you may only be able to keep one, 2 at the max if they are very small. SH

ya thats all that i want is 1 or 2 fish. What is a nano-reef? And even with a power filter i still need live rock for filtration? sorry newbie (at saltwater) here. thanks for your help!!!

CTS..check out my thread on starting up a nano reef. It uses the 24G Nano Cube as a startup but it can be applied to your 10G. Also, and probably better, checkout Parker313's post.....her thread would be right up your alley and she's a great helper if you need help too. SH

Also, check out the threads pinned to the top of the Marine & Reef Chit Chat page - there is a lot of good info there.

If you have enough live rock (1lb per gallon at least) then you don't need a power filter at all. You can use one for the water movement, but the filter media itself will fast become a nitrate factory. I have 2 aquaclear filters but they are empty. I basically just use them for the water movement and for the added water volume (and a place to put my phosphate remover bags).
