2 days ago I purchased an aboslutely gorgeous blue and red male Crowntail. He's currently living in a fully cycled 12 litre tank with gravel substrate, a couple of silk plants and a moss ball. The tank has a small air-driven filter with the outlet pointed against the side to cut down on current as much as possible and a heater set at 26C. Ammonia and Nitrite levels are both at 0ppm.

The thing is that I haven't been able to get him to eat anything yet. I've tried him with flakes, frozen brine shrimp and frozen blood worms but he just shows no interest in them at all. He also just seems to lay around.

The shop I got him from is very reputable (new/sick fish kept seperate from others, tanks kept spotlessly clean, refuses to sell fish until a sample of the tank water has been bought in for testing etc.) so I don't think he can be sick - he certainly looks healthy enough but I am getting a little concerned.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

it is quite common for bettas not to eat for the first few days, took one of mine two weeks before he ate :good:

That's a relief! I was hopinh it was just the stress of a new environment and anything. I guess I'll just have to keep trying and in the meantime keep an eye on him.
