Came down this morning to see white patches on some of the bogwood in my aquarium. These pieces have been in here for several months now. They had been boiled and soaked for at least 30 days according to the vendor, if that makes any difference.
I'm just concerned as to whether this poses any risk to the fish and why it may have come about suddenly now.

I've got no nerites, just MTS and some random little snails that hitched a ride on some plants.

Its hard to see exactly what the white patches are on the wood.

But I don't think its anything of real concern as its fairly common to see things like this happening with wood when they are fully immersed in tropical tank waters. I had white cottony stuff growing on my wood when i first put the wood in the tank, no idea what it is but I simply just take the wood out, give them a good scrub with a scourer or something, then rinse off and pour hot water over then wood then return the wood to the tank.

That more often than not solves any possible issues with wood.
