As many of you know I bought a tank at christmas as a family christmas present and started a fish in cycle under advice from LFS.

Well we have finally completed our painfull cycle and have a happy tank (apart from a nippy peguin tetra)

I have a 48l tank and want to know how you work out your tank capacity for fish stocking.

currently we have 13 and my LFS says I can introduce more up to about 16/18 but I want to check with you guys first, incase he is just selling me fish.

Currently

3 Danios (1 Golden 2 Zebra)
4 Guppies ( 2 red, 2 yellow)
4 Penguin
2 Corries (Albino)

I don't want to add another breed just expand on what I have, and I am also worried that they have mis-sold me my cory as I have read on here (after I bought them) that they like bigger tanks....

Appreciate your time

Hi it should be 1inch of fish per gallon so in a 10 gallon you could have 10 1inch fish or 5 2inch fish.
Danios should be in groups of 6+
corys should be in groups of 4+
Im guessing you mean penguin tetras not actual penguins  they should be in groups of 6+

I would try to return the danios to your LFS and get 2 more corys and 2 more penguin tetras.
Hope this helps
Lloyd

Didn't want to take my Danio's back really out of loyalty as they got me through my fish in cycle..... perhaps I'll take the penguins back, especially as one is really nippy.

i would try swap the corys for a smaller species, panda or pygmy
