I have had my 60 gal tank for 7 months now and just today discovered a little tiny starfish smaller than a dime.... much smaller.. I was very excited to discover this harmless looking little creature and went to the internet to figure how to best care for him.......my excitement quickly faded when i discovered that this little creature may actually be harmful to my corals........and may eat them..does anyone have any experience with these little guys and if so have any advice for me......I would appriciate any ideas you may have

Are they Asterina/goose-foot stars? Within that group I have read that although there are some bad ones, the majority are good. I have them in my 12 gallon. They periodically come out and munch holes in my algae, then dissappear back into the rocks. I would think that if you don't see them going for your corals at present, it means they are good guys :)

I like starfish, but some of them are monstrosities. I once had a Chocolate Chip Starfish before my 2nd crash. I didn't know it wasn't reef safe.

It ate both of my Pencil Urchins, my Brittle Star, and anything else it could catch. It was the last invertebrate left before the 2nd crash. It was soon after eradicated along with every other animal in the tank when the 2nd crash occurred.

But they all deserve a chance before they are labled as an enemy.
