Is this algae?

Good Morning Everyone,

I have this weird white/grey stuff growing in my tank but it only appears to be on the glass and looks like it has a stem coming from the gravel. I suspect algae since it seems to disappear (being eaten maybe?) but I do not know for sure.

probably a chunk of dust, just remove it
 
Multiple of these have appeared in the tank over the last couple weeks, each seems to have a big of a "stem". Seems a bit of a weird pattern to be dust right?

It's not dust, but I've no clue what they actually are, never seen anything quite like it...
 
I haven't had much luck researching either, and the LFS was rather clueless as well.

theres some big stems and my snail severs it off once in a while
 
That's an interesting algae. I will try to keep a closer eye on it and see if it's really being eaten.
