Is This A Rotkeil?

Hi new here, i bought 5 of these today labelled as 'Red Head Cichlid' they have the tell tell signs of being Rotkeils as in the 8 vertical bars instead of 9 that Efaciatus, Notatus and Appendiculatus get, and the yellow anal fin where the others tend to have brown, red or orange.

They are only 1" big, they are currently growing out in my 75 gallon which has 2 9" sevs

I only ask as I know the shop that I bought my male from (Pier in Wigan) had them labelled up as Red Head Cichlids and there was a whole thread on here last year about what he was. Yours looks similar (although highly stressed in your picture).

They look like rotkeils to me. I got some juvies from BAS at Xmas they still look like that . Lord knows when they will finally start colouring up I wanted a male and female pair then sell the other 2 on when they get big enough.

Mine are 2 inches and 2 and a half inches

Yeh I would say they're Rotkeil. Rotkeil have 8 bars and the only other that have 8 are Heros sp indridae and they are similar to notatus

I got him from a shop in Somerset, hes not highly stressed, thats how they look, all 5 of mine look like that and the 10 i bought from the web a few years ago looked the same, the stripes fade once they hit around 4"

I've got my heart set on getting one of these when I upgrade in December, possibly a pair. How fast to they grow?

I've had mine from about an inch 7/ 8 months ago and they are only 2 and a halfish now.

They grow pretty quick, i bought 10 a few years ago and sold them on, 1 i sold to my friend and it was full adult size and breeding with his adult green inside 1 year (8")

Wow, quite fast growing then... Well I guess I'm definitely waiting for the upgrade, not enough room at the mo...
