Is This A Good Fry Tank For Convict Fry

I would say no Grimmy. It's just not big enough.

Convicts can have 200 fry at a time, and that tank would not sustain 200 fry for any length of time. You would need to move them on to a bigger tank probably within a couple of weeks.

not for me Grimster

the smaller the tank, the harder to maintain water quality - especially with the feeding of fry (see below)

if you looking for somewhere to put fry temporary then maybe, if you looking to grow the fry on proper, i would try and go for something like a 18x10x10 inch as a starting point thats about 30 litre and 8 US Gallon

Its the size i used to start my fry off in, they dont "need" all that space to start with, but it makes it so much easier to keep a stable environment

You have to feed multiple times a day to give the fry the best start, and get the balance right between heavy feeds and regular partial water changes to maintain 0.0 Ammonia and Nitrite, although you'll have to use more water, its easier to achieve this with 8 Gallons than it would be with 2.5 (in my experience)

I am assuming upwards of 50+ fry, obviously if you end up with just a few, maybe dont need 8 US Gallons

too tacky

convicts dont like growing up in tacky tanks, they get white spot

EDIT: LOL Grimster, sorry, just messing, well atleast its bigger than the first one, i still think something in the region of 18x10x10 (8 US), if you get lots of fry surviving, you'll have to go up to a 24x12x15 or something sooner rather than later

That odd i did not know thatwell the biggest tank i can get is either a 5 gallon or a 5.5 gallon

have they bred yet, or you just getting ready?

If you want to breed them, why dont you consider just having a pair of convicts in your 29 and raising the fry in there with mum and dad, so much easier

Just a pair of Convicts though, no other fish,

well im just getting ready they have already laid eggs

well im just getting ready they have already laid eggs

I would wait and see for a few days, just to make sure you havent got x2 females.

The amount of times i have a convict laying eggs with no male in the tank is well..... quite a few times

i have a breeding pair 1 male 1 female but ill wait

dont breed them.

if you cant get a 30g min for a tank to raise them in. then just dont do it.

remove the eggs

lol i just got home from bass fishing. ready to correct grimmy

no a 29 is good enough to breed in. I just wont to add different fish when it cycles. Then my power filter might suck them up

are you serious? your gunna raise 200 convicts to 3" in a 29g with the fish you already have?
do you have the correct setup for convicts?

i got rid of all my fish and got new now i have 2 cories and 2 convicts
