It is a 4foot by 18 inch by 18 inch

This is the filter i was thinking of getting, its flow is 1500 l/ph
which is more then enough for my tank, its alot cheaper then Eheim or Fluval, They are about 220ish where i live for the one i want, This is $85 dollars, i have seen them for sale on American ebay and everyone seems to say good things about them, Im just wondering if anyone runs them or knows anyone who uses them

have heard people say those filters are quite good, but maybe you should look in the buy/sell/swap section of the forum or on aquarists classifieds i gotr a 2nd hand eheim pro2 cannister filter for tanks up to 600L for 70 quid and the best bit was it was local and already running on a tank so it was ready cycled!!

Those filters are all over eBay in the UK. Obviously modelled on the TetraTec EX range.

Looks very similar to one I asked for advise on in the filter/harware section (never had a reply though :( )

Considering the prices you can get the TetraTecs for online, I wouldn't go for one of those knock-offs. I've just added a TetraTec EX600 to my 700 and it only cost me £42.

my eheim 2224 only cost £51 inc postage. but if these things go for, say, £20-30 i guess it may be worth a punt. but what happens if the impeller goes, or anything else for that matter? it could turn out to be the best filter in the world, but is it worth the risk? Go for a quality make or, at least, that would be my advice!

the specs look good, but ill give you a £1 to a pinch of salt, the filter flow in nothing like 1500lpm. closer to 500 or 600 (with media) if you are lucky.

Yeah, the tetratecs are good, and cheap. Have a look on ebay, i got one brand new for £9.50!!

yes there is a member on here who's running one on his tank alongside another external filter, he sent me a link to it the other day and told me its a very good filter :good: i will mail him the link to this and hope he replys to you :good:

cheers nelly
yea i am running the 2000 lph model, i bought from ebay for £57 and is very good value for money so far, i got the media from the same shop which sells them and with p&p it came too about £90

its simple to set up but does take a while to prime, its good that it also comes with uv light and 4 white foam pads, the flow is very very good and i dont think you will get any better for your money from new :hyper:

i am running this filter along side a eheim 2217 and it makes that looks like a dinky toy  it does very well at keeping my 150 uk gal tank crystal clear :hyper: i'm thinking about buying another one soon to go on my wifes tank so i highly recomend this filter if your on a budget :hyper:
