i got this red female from Petsmart about 2 months ago, along with my 6 other girls in the tank, they all get along really good. But I did start noticing the size different between the red 1 and the others. He/She is at least twice the size of my other females thats in my tank at the moment, and im starting to think its a male. Here are 2 pics of him/her.

that looks male to me. when it flares dose the flare goo all the way round or is it just at the side?

when it flares does the bit around the chin go all the way around or just at the sides?

I cant really tell, never seen that 1 flare before.

That looks like a long finned female to me, she looks rather eggy too, sometimes you can get big females and small males, the size does not count in sexing bettas :good:

heres a pic of other females in the tank, the Red 1 in the middle is the 1 im asking about. hope this can help?

I'd be tempted to say long finned female aswell. They do exist. It's either that or a VERY constipated male.
Have you seen him/her attack the others?
And have you tried feeding a bit of deshelled pea?

yea, just tried holding up a mirrior, no flaring at all, and they never faught with other fishes in the tank either. They just look kinda fat cuz i just finish feeding them bloodworms and pellets lol.

well if its not cousing any trouble i guess you should just leave it for now and keep a eye out for what its flare looks like.
