To "make" a sponge filter? At my local Petco and Petsmart, they sell them for 25 - 30 dollars and my lfs either doesn't sell them or sells them for wayy more. Can you take some sort of sponge and attach it to a regular filter or won't this work?

We can probably do that. I'm not really sure what a "fish flake pot" is but I'd imagine just a fish food container?
