have been looking for an iphone app where you can look up fish in a database and it tell you the relavent stats.

does such thing exist? if not why not as it would be a good idea

Well, on my ipod I have a app called the aquarium handbook. I had to pay $15 but it gives me every fish and information. They might have it for the iphone

If you have an iPhone why not just use the internet where the data is constantly updated and you have a multitude of sources as well?

Internet can be slow out and about lol

A lot of applications, especially the those that access large data rely on an internet connection anyway.

You know what I mean, have you tried typing on an Iphone? lol

I have to say its team Blackberry all the way for me.
Good idea about the app but like what's already been suggested I'd rather use the net.

the mobile web speeds are more than capable of accessing the sites you require, therefore no need for an app

There is one yes, however I shamelessly help to run the website it's linked with for a friend so I (out of respect for this forum as I have learnt so much from it) will not promote or post links to it here but if you search Google you will find it.

I've got Amazon Kindle on my Android (pretty sure there's an iPhone version too?) - there are plenty of books in the Kindle marketplace relating to fish & fishkeeping. The kindle app is free and books seem to range from £2-£10.

I give a +1 for the app. Apps tend to use much less data than websites as the formatting etc is already there. THere have been several occasions that i have been in a shop, seen a fish, tried to find out about it, but a combination of the website being slow to load, or difficult to read on iphone or what ever has lead me to give up.

I love my iphone, but have a hatred to websites which are not iphone friendly haha.

i have also noticed that all of the fish shops i go in dont have any 3g reception and hardly any gprs so it makes lookign things up quite hard. an app would be better. i tend to ask the guys about fish, then look up the real stats myself lol

As a mod, I give you permission to go ahead and post the title of your ap, so that people may Google it. Please don't post a link to your commercial site, however. Thanks very much for respecting our rules on this issue.

Ok fair enough as for the respecting the rules, it's only fair. I don't believe in spanning other sites of similar content just to promote your own.

Anyway if you Google Saltytank or search for Saltytank in the app store your find it.

I was originally only supposed to me the guy who does the code, look after the backend and fix the problems my friend was supposed to be adding most of the content but he is lazy so im doing most of that at the moment......will be having words about it when I see him.

Its not got everything on it yet because like I say my friend is lazy but it is getting there.

If you or the other mods change your mind and decide to remove this post, I understand but thanks for agreeing to let me post it.
