Oh boy! YAY! I don't have a fry trap though. Whats the chance of me catching some of the fry to move them to a smaller tank? And how long do you think until she has the babies? She was a little fat when I got her, but she is getting a tiny bit bigger each day.
Livebearers have babies every 3-4 weeks. She looks 2 or so weeks along. It's really hard to tell-fish can be just fat with food sometimes. Keep looking for her to square off. I usually just keep my tabs on my females and when they look ready I make sure and keep a look out for fry. They can have just a few fry up to 80 plus. It depends on their health and how much you feed them and the quality of the food. I've had mollies fed bloodworms and brine shrimp that had 70 plus fry each month!
Not to be negative, but breeding traps can really stress fish out. Some fish don't mind it, but I've had some that will abort when you put them in a breeder net/trap. It really depends on the fish-some don't mind and others freak out. The best way though is to usually wait for the female to drop and then scoop out the fry and put them in the net.
