Is My Fish A Platty Or A Molly?

i bought a male and femal what i thought was a molly and still think they are? i got a couple pics but they were really hard to get. their like a brindle color black, white, yellow! is it a platty or a molly? i got a pair at walmart and i asked for a molly and thought thats what it was they were priced the same as the plattys though and the reciept said platty. did she just write down a random one with no care or is my fish a platy??

You can't expect us to identify your fish when you only give us the colours. A photo would be nice, although I do understand how hard it can be.

I stopped buying fish from WalMart. The employees aren't always knowledgeable though sometimes you get lucky. Half the time when I tell them the sexual preference I want they have no idea how to tell then when they give me the wrong fish altogether they try to convince me it's the right one. I think PetSmart is the best place to buy fish.

As for your fish, it's hard to tell from the quality of your pictures but I'm going with Molly. Walmart Usually only carries Mickey Mouse Platy's which encourages my judgement. I've never seen a platy that color. I could be very wrong but I'm going to say you've got Mollies.

It's defo a molly. Also, i would guess female by the pic's as it's dorsal fin isnt big, it's small. Got any better pic's?

The body shape is screaming molly. Platies are much stockier.

I don't think it's dyed. I can't really tell, it could be either.

But I would KILL for one, either way! Or a pair better still. (Livebearer rule: Pair = school.)

I also would say it's a molly. Does she have fat lips? I find that to be a molly characteristic. Gorgeous color! I would kill for one of those

That isnt a Dyed Molly. It is a very pretty one though. My lfs dosent sell Dyed fish anymore, and they get molly's that look like that weekly. I too would die for one, i just dont have money to get one or 2.

Laurafrog has a very similar plattys with the same colour variation ill leave my id until she has seen this because it is very similar to hers.
