Is My Apple Snail Ok?

It was lying on the substrate before not moving and it looked like it had just fallen into place - I.e it was not foot down, but shell down.

I picked it up and gently poked the operculum but there was no movement. Also no bad smell.
I noticed some goopy stuff stuck to it so I gently removed it.
Also there was some sand under the operculum which I tried to remove but some is still there.

I dropped the snail back in and I guess I'll wait and see...
I did a gravel vac yesterday, that is the only thing I can think of which would upset the snail.

Give it some time; short periods of inactivity aren't unusual. Is the other snail acting normally? Also, is the snail in the same tank as the betta listed in your signature, or is that a different tank?

Nice tank, I had one

I recently got 4 baby apple snails and the do the same thing. It's been a week since I got them and have only seen them out once at night. But I find them in different places each day. All my ramshorn and nerites are active. Maybe they need time.

Donya - The other snail is acting normally, yes. Cleaning up my vallisneria nicely Yes, in the same tank as the betta.
 
 
Baker - thanks Yeah I probably just need to be patient. I'm a bit anxious as when my tank was still cycling I made a mistake and got a ramshorn snail, thinking that he would be okay in a cycling tank. Well he died

Maybe put some algea wafers as far away as possible from the snail at night when all lights are of and it's quiet( when going to bed) and seen if he's moved in the morning

Its fine ive seen my mystery snails like that plenty of times. they usually come out of their shell when they go up to get air
