Hi i would really like a male beta. I have a 130litre tank. At the moment i have neons and rasboras which i know are compatible. I also have a bristlenose. She is an albino long fin. Would she be a problem to a male beta. I have also read and been told bristlenoses are ok but worried because she is a long fin. I would hate either of then to get hurt. Any advise please

Hi, welcome to the forum! I'm not sure about the plec, but neons can be quite nippy so I'd be wary about putting a betta with them. Every betta is different and whilst some will be ok in a community tank, not every one will tolerate tankmates. The betta and the plec would occupy different areas or the tank, but it depends on the temperament of both of them really.

Neons can be nippy.
It all depends on the Betta some are fine with tank mates others are not, If you do get one be prepared to rehouse him if he attacks the other fish, And that is the best answer anybody can give you.

PS
the BN will not bother the Betta, Bn males are aggressive towards other BN males but thats a territory thing, BN's make perfect tank mates.

Betta are not community fish, regardless of anything else. This works both ways. Others have mentioned the nippiness of tetras, but there is also the Betta; I had a male years ago that easily ate neons.

Male Betta deserve to be on their own.

Byron.
