Is Java Fern A Death Trap?

well I found my clown loach stuck in a clump of java fern!

upset

I guess there must be a way to plat or display this stuff safely?

I found a liking to the plant and a supplier that has great prices on it..

the place where I found the poor fish was a cave that had the java fern had gone trough,,, keep all caves clear of plants?

just upset looking for java fern and clown loach advice......
thanks

I've never had any trouble with my fish getting tangled in java fern.  Was it in the leaves or the "roots"?  If it was the roots, keep them trimmed shorter if not attached to something.  If it was the leaves, I'm guessing the loach was probably in bad shape before, and just ended up there, rather than getting "stuck".

BTW, that's a fantastic looking tank!

You could find some narrow rows from your garden and tied the roots/stock to it. (Assuming your fish got stuck either to the roots or by the fact that the java fern moved).

I'll be aquascaping today after some online viewing....
It was the leaves... I get it in a big clump and some of the loose stuff must have settled there , the fish was al wrapped up in a mass of stems

I misspoke, its Java moss

java moss looks great. is it like that dwarfe grass or whatever that you have to really plant in and let it grow/spread ?

Even so, I don't think a healthy fish would get caught in it.  Looks great actually!

no,, its kinda like Velcro (moss not fern)

I read numerous stories about it happening,,,,gotta keep it neat and trimmed
