hey all, i think i might have white spot on my fish, there are tiny little white spots starting to show up around there mouth and body, these white spots are only realy realy small, so small my camera wont even take a clear picture of them, what do u guys think they are?

i need a quick responce so i know if i have to go buy some medication before the shop closes!

it is either whitespot or very fine airbubbles attaching to the fish. If you don't have many airbubbles floating around the tank then it is probably whitespot.
It is most noticeable on the fins and on dark fish. The spots are small, about 1mm in diameter.

Get a basic whitespot treatment and dose the tank.

To work out the volume of water in the tank
measure Length x Width x Height in cm
divide by 1000
equals volume in litres

When measuring the height, measure from the top of the gravel to the top of the water level. If you have big rocks or driftwood in the tank, remove them before measuring the height.

Remove carbon from the filter before treating otherwise it will absorb the medication out of the water.

If you have catfish or loaches in the tank check the directions and use a lower dose rate if recommended.

yeah it br whitespot!

its 5pm here now and all the shops are closed! i cant buy no medication atm entill tomorrow.

is there anything else i can use to treat them? i heard u can use some sort of salt? correct me if i am wrong.........

don't worry about using salt, it doesn't affect the whitespot parasite.
You can do a big water change and gravel clean. That will reduce the numbers of parasites in the water and gravel.
And don't have the temperature too high until you get the medication into the tank. Otherwise you will speed up the lifecycle of the parasite and it will allow more of the beasties to infect your fish before they get treated.
When you start treating try to increase surface turbulence as the medication reduces the oxygen carrying capabilities of the water.
