Is Is Safe For My Fish Tank?

I have a house plant (Philodendron pertusum) grow besides my fish tank, now the roots of the plants grow from the leaves and extend into the fish tank, now the roots grow huge! I am a little worried, is this plants safe for fish? I googled, someone said many house plant are poisious, some say it is good for the fish, I am confused.

I don't know any safe house plants, so i would move the plat and cut the roots out of the aquarium as soon as possible. However, I'm not the pro at plants, so I'm just telling you to play it safe.

I know,but I did find someone said it is very good for fish tank, as those roots provide hiding place for baby fish, and esp. once the roots of houseplants is trained for water cultivated, it is very good at clarify water, much powerful than normal aquarium plants.

I'd leave it. Keep an eye on the roots, if they show any sign of going mouldy or anything then get them out.

I don't think that a plant can leach anything into your water from its roots if its healthy and happy to have them in water.

Not sure about its toxicity with fish but it is toxic to cats and dogs. The leaves, stocks and sap are most toxic parts of the plant for dogs and cats, and the primary toxin is calcium oxalate crystals if this helps at all. How long have the roots been in the water? If they have been in your aquarium for awhile and you have not had any problems then I would it is probably okay.

I also heard it is toxic for cats and dogs. that is why I am worried. The roots has been in the tank for a few weeks now, and grow bigger and bigger. I am worried it is some kinda slow release stuff which will harm the fish gradually.

The problem is, I notice fish start to bite the roots, esp those new grow tender part

If you're worried or doubtful, take it out.

I wouldn't risk it, it will probably rot and poison yoir tank.
