  • Yes! Some fish are interesting with the lights off.

I like turning my T.V. on at night and letting the light from that light up my Dwarf Puffer tank and watching them sleep. They're s cute when they're sleeping! :D

A added bonus is that my son recently recieved a pair of night vision goggles for his birthday (wonder who could have got him those  ) which allow me to see the fish much more clearly and led to me making a amazing discovery just last night, one of my moray eels turns a luminesent orange at night for some strange reason, i can only presume it so that others of their own kind can identify them in the dark.
That's so cool! maybe you;ve discovered something new? after all there can't be many people who watch eels with night vision goggles...:dunno: where did you get them?

Theyre not actual real night vision gogles like the military use but they still work very well, they were bought from a toy shop and together with a few other bits and pieces make up a spy kit, not a bad little buy for around a tenner.

When my lights go out I can vaguely see the crabs start moving around searching for food.

In the morning when lieing in bed I see the platties moving aorund normally.

When i get my new tank stocked i'll be watching fish as I go to sleep with them dirrectly next to me. Then a tank on the other side once i find one.....

I didnt vote cuz I spend almost the same amount of time watching with the lights on, and off. I love sneaking in and watching my plecs hunt for their dinner. And my rainbows only actually form a shoal at night. In the day they seem to do theyr own thing. My angel is best to watch with the lights on, and obviously you can only see the beautiful colours on the rainbows in the day.
