One of my bettas Raj was perfectly healthy earlier. I put some betta spa into his tank (10gal divided)... and now he has absolutely no energy. He'll go up for air and then will drift down with all fins clamped.
The other betta in the tank isn't showing any signs of distress and another betta in a different tank that I've put the betta spa in is perfectly fine as well.

I'm so scared he's gonna die from this. He's not breathing well and has just lost all energy.
I put a breeders net onto his side and put him into it so he won't have far to go for air. I also did a very large water change to try to get as much of it out as possible... I don't know what else to do :(

Youve done exactly what I would have suggested :good: You could also try and turn the tank temp up 1-2 degrees. Providing it isnt on the warmer scale of what they like already.

I hope he pulls through for you hun, i really do <hugs>

You know, I had a fungal outbreak in my girls tank, and the ones who didn't have the fungus reacted horribly to the meds. I thought surely I would lose all four of my babies, but then my boyfriend just took them (by then divided) and changed their water every six to eight hours because I was so upset. (Only adding the water conditioner...I don't even think he added much salt...maybe he did, obviously, I don't recall). Low and behold, all four pulled through, even the little one who we thought was surely a goner. Maybe you could try that? I know it's demanding since it's every few hours; it was easy for me because I'm in college and simply skipped class. :)

Good luck, I hope he pulls through.

Thanks you 2....
Well I stayed up a bit later last night, put one of his plants into the net so he could rest on it and be even closer to the surface.
I seriously thought he was going to die. I'm sure anyone else would've thought so as well.
He'd go up to the surface for his breath and would drift back down vertically and stay that way once he reached the bottom of the net.
Finally when I put the plant in he found himself a spot where he only had to lift his head to get some air.

Anyways... I was totally preparing myself to find him dead this morning, but there he was in his net.. wiggling away at me wanting me to feed him.
He's not full energy still, but almost his usual cute self thank god.

His fins are a bit damaged b/c he was laying on them so much, but it's a small price to pay I think.
I still have no idea what caused him to get sick though.. just know that I won't be using betta spa with him any more just in case that is what caused this.

Gosh I'm just so relieved right now.

That's great to hear! I'm glad he's getting better! :) I think some bettas just react poorly to some medications. Happy to hear he's on his way to recovery though, as I'm sure you are too :)

Don't carbon filters take out chemicals such as that in the water? Cuz the packages usually ask you to remove the carbon filters before starting usage.

Glad your fish is doing better! :good:
