I have a 55 gal aquarium I want to install two dividers in. Roughly 12gal | 30gal | 12gal. I'm also going to attempt to drill small holes for water flow. Will 3mm be strong enough to withstand the water pressure? The local hardware store cuts to dimensions pretty cheaply and they only have thickness up to 3mm. I'd rather use them then home Depot or Lowe's if possible.

How high is the tank?

4 or 5mm thick glass would be safer and less likely to chip. 3mm is notorious for chipping.

Can you get Perspex instead of glass?
3mm thick Perspex will be fine as a divider and you can cut it yourself and stick plastic flywire over holes to let water flow through but stop the fish getting through.

I'll get the measurements when I get home from work. It's not a standard rectangle tank it's hexagonal.
