The clown needs a group, that is why it is shy. BN doesn't look like a BN too me though I could be wrong, looks like a sailfin, the markings do to me anyway, grow a nice 18". Bala will also be shy with little room and no shoal.

The clown and shark will both get too big for their tanks.

Good job on the tanks btw :good:

clown is in 20gal as a snail clean-up crew and will be moved to 55 gal when snails are gone, bala was a rescure and I will actually find him a new home but at the moment he is only like 4" long and has lots of space.

Also I should clairify neither of them are shy just camera shy. In fact the bala eats blood worms outta my hand.........

I could be wrong about the BN but he doesn't look like the pics of sail fins I have seen before

How do you not have any algae on your 20 gallon with 110watt of light and no co2!!? :hyper:

I was told it would overrun my tank.

I was told the same thing and guess what............I have NEVER cleaned the alge off and have NEVER seen any. And I run my light 14 hours per day.

Maybe it's becuase I had a bad snail problem but the clown is taking care of that right quick

Maybe I'm just lucky I am Irish after all

When you say little room are you saying that a 4' tank isn't enough for a 4" bala. I mean I know it will need a bigger tank but thats not enough room now??????????

I never said it wasn't enough just well not even minimum when they get bigger IMO, though it will work as a grow out tank, not sure how fast they grow? Probably an inch or so every 1-2 months? I think they are meant to reach 10" in the first year? Just I don't think bala's should be kept in any less than 6'x2'x2' personally I wouldn't want to use less than 7'x3' preferably 8'x3' but that is just me. They are shoaling so a fast swimming very active shoal of (at adult size) 14" fish, that love to swim round the tank, need a large tank.

maybe something is wrong with the bala then becuase the person I got him from had him about 8 months and he is only like 4" I have had him for a month and he hasn't grown at all
