Hello New Guy here,

curious if there are any Invertebrate that like the higher ph? Interested in clam or any other species that help with the filtration process and taking care of waste and left over food.

Would really like a Pleco but most that I have come across are not recommended for high ph. Or would Cichlids probably nip at one to much?

I believe snails thrive in high pH, but I can't imagine them being with african cichlids.

The best way to handle poo is to do water changes and vacuum it up yourself. Best way to remove algae is to scrub it off with a glass safe pad. The best way to add extra filtration is to get a bigger filter. Like any pets, fish require maintenance and care. Just don't overfeed and stuff, and everything works out fine.

If you're looking for a catfish to eat ground scraps or something, most synodontis species do well in the higher pH that africans like.
