About 3 months ago I purchased a lovely piece of bogwood with plant attached.

I now have ...millions of baby snails, ok not quite a million, they are really small, just larger than a grain of sand and there are so many I can't count. I have just done my weekly clean but have hardly removed any.

Ant advice on how to get this under control before they start getting big and my fish tank looks like a snail tank !!!!

I have a 50l tank with 16 fish, 3 guppies, 3 danios, 5 neon and 5 harelquins

buy a snail predator, idk what kind a fish you would need but i see no other way except a pesticide.

Never ever buy any fish to get rid snails, chances are you wont be able to house it and meet its care needs and is very unfair.

As you will see if you use the search tool there are lots of info on here, some of the better advice includes

1. Stop overfeeding, snails cannot live without food, if you have a boom it means you feed too much.
2. squish them with your finger the fish will pick them off
3. Put some lettice/cucumber in the the tank before bed, in the morning you should have a load on the leaf to throw away.

Plenty more out info out there :good:

Agree with BigbruiserAl. When I bought new plants I had loads of tiny little snails in the tank and went for the lettuce option and it worked. The rest I picked out with either the net or squished them.

If you do go with using lettuce, the guppies and danios will eat some of it, too. I have a fish to recommend. Please, all of you who said "don't buy fish to eat snails", don't murder me for this. The Khuli loach is a delightful fish, will eat snails and gets along with my guppies wonderfully. I have three of them in one of my display tanks, and they control the snails and swim in circles in the evening, as they are nocturnal, sleeping under my driftwood in the afternoon.

Neomeris

But kuhlis need to be in groups of 6+ as they are a very, very social fish, and the OPs tank is already fully stocked.

In this cse (as with most cases of snail 'infestations'), manual removal combined with a reduction of feeding is the best course of action.
