Tried taking photos of these "things" that has invaded one of my tanks, but they are almost transparent & does not show up on photographs.

They contract and expand and are about 1mm long when contracted and about half inch (12mm) when expanded. They move forth with what looks like suckers at the extreme end either end of the body.

I only noticed one today for the first time, and when I started looking around, I saw plenty. They're not on the fish, (hopefully) and has a tough "jelly baby" structure when I remove them from the tank.

I've never seen amuba, but could this be it?? - (and are they harmful to my fish).

Sounds like planaria- they're tiny flatworms.

Not harmful, but if you have a lot of them it's a sign that you're overfeeding.
