Tank looks great imo. It's always good to have new ppl around that know how to properly care for bettas.

I went on a rampage to get rid of all of my "non-natural" looking tanks... and after some time, i almost want to setup one with colored gravel and goofy decorations again. It's a matter of preference and it is nice to have some variety. Colorful tanks can be a lot of fun.

not a fan of the gravel!!! sunglasses please!
was that really necessary? the tank is much better than MANY tanks i have seen around here.

He is sweet! he will eat those pellets eventually, but feed him stuff he likes for now whilst he is getter better, and then you can wean him onto pellets when he is in full health! That is what I am doing with my rescued Blackbeard :p Spoiling him for a few days whilst he gets his strength up!
exactly... he'll warm up to the pellets. Some of my guys took over a week to accept the hikari pellets, but they are really the best pellet food you can give them.

thats some strong lighting in there by the looks of the pics, i bet he would be grateful with a few live plants

they are live plants. The lights are strong it looks, I can just have a blue one on, but apparently with both the white and blue it helps the plant growth? I have the lgiht on for moderate times in the day
lighting is fine... not sure how anyone could mistake those for fake plants

He's great , I LOVE the name :D
Haha, i bet you do.

Best of luck with the treatment. You might want to try to get him on a broad spectrum treatment.... although I have no recommendations for meds in the UK.

The tank set-up is VERY nice, and that's taking into consideration the fact that I'm personally very big on natural gravel/dark substrate.
And even of more importance, it looks like a happy, healthy betta home.
Bet he loves the tunnel, too.

As far as plants go, and speaking as One Who Knows Nothing herself, I believe the photo period is actually of more importance than the fact of any continuous light source.
No idea if this is any use to you, or if you already know this, but apparently algae takes longer to respond to light than plants do, so if any problems crop up, (knock wood, and, of course, far less likely with all that beautiful and tastefully arranged greenery,) you might want to consider (if you haven't already, or have and discarded the idea) shutting the light off for a couple of hours in the middle of the light period, what (Walstad) people doing this have termed a 'siesta', and which apparently works well.
I keep planning to do this...

Yay, another Inheritance fan! My friends and I (there are five of us) managed to get our hands on two copies of Brisingr the week it came out... omg you should have seen the fights, it was HILARIOUS. Jess got to read hers first, then we all started fighting over who got it next... it was really, really insane. Those of us who missed out (Rach's brother nicked off with Jess's copy) started pestering the librarian. We drove her nuts. Well, she was nuts anyway, but a good sort of nuts, the 'you have six overdues but you can borrow this anyway, BRING THEM BACK TOMORROW' nuts.

I like the tank, it's ideal for a betta and it looks like you've got yourself a beauty! He's a gorgeous fish...

Id need a good camera to show his true colour. Hes red but with a slight tint of blue on some of his scales.

On his top most fin at the end, there is a small round circle (which I believe is nothing serious, just a wierd growth of a fin, if you can see it in the picture).
He finally ate his pellets today, I put the usual 4 in and he swollowed them all in! His spots have gone down so I do believe it was white spot, but still needs to get those cloudy eyes cleared up!

Glad to hear he seems to be perking up more now. Has he stopped sulking in the corner yet?

yeah yeah! swimming round the tank knowing full well its his teritory! Makes me sad really, Id of liked to have added a BN plec (£14 from p@h! i almost died) but i think hed terrify it now!

That's great to hear. Typical Betta chucking his weight around

£14 is a bit steep  There were baby BNs being sold in the For Sale section on here a while ago for £1 each!!!

Yeah, checked again its 14.99 for a BN! And the other 2 aquatic shops dont have any other than common for sale!
Went and bought 4 Oto's though (dont know why 4, I originally went for 3) and Thorn seems to get along fine with them.

I bought some more blood worm for him, but theres far to many in a bag for 1 guy so ive put them into a cup and am thinking that theyll probably breed whilst in there, so is there any food source or anything I can throw them ?
