Hi guys and girls!

Well, I've only posted a couple of times on this forum so I thought I'd introduce myself (well, my fish!.

Introducing my betta, Chow, giving me the 'how dare you vile human' face.

Apologies for the terrible pictures, streaky glass and a camera phone don't exactly make the clearest pictures...

He's called Chow because, well, if you've ever seen any of the 'Hangover' films, you'd get the idea :p

He currently has a bit of a problem with fin rot, I believe - maybe you could tell me if I'm correct by these pics?

I'm following advice given on other threads here of regular water changes and medication - although i went for the Interpet 'anti fungus and finrot', partly because it's easier to find and also because some other posters were interested to see the results. Obviously, if Chow's fins don't improve I'll be getting some Myxazin :)

Just out of curiosity, what colour is Chow? I always assumed red with some sort of wash on his body making it black/purple but you guys of all people would know!

Chow is lovely :) i'm unsure of whether its finrot as looking at the pictures it looks to be a whole in the middle of his tail?

do you have any plastic plants? sharp objects in the tank?

Thanks!

I do have fake plants but they're silk with rounded leaves - I checked them for sharp bits before I put them in,

He had slightly dodgy looking fins before because he got in a fight, so I moved him to his own 50l (with some endlers but they stay away). Since I used some media from the old filter, the water parameters have been a bit 'off' but I ALWAYS change at least half of the water if I get any noticeable results with the liquid test.

He doesn't have holes so much as his fins suddenly look 'thread like' and separated (especially at the edges) which i was trying to show in the pictures. They also look a bit sort of crinkly/withered. I can't remember if he ever had that flowing 'veil' tail or had a bit of a crowntail/combtail going on but it's deinitely never looked this bad.

Here's a pic that shows the plants and the fins a bit better maybe:

They sort of look like they're fraying?
