hi all just wondering if its possible to introducing a red tail shark into a community tank i know of one person made it work but hes even said he got a calm one hes had it 5/6 years biggest fish in his community 4 ft tank he got it when it was very young and was the last thing put into his tank. now i really love these fish and i wondering if its worth a try or really just pointless trying

my tank is a juwel 240
fish are
6 albino corys
6 otos
4 platys
7 danios
1 male dwarf gourami

as long as you get a very young one it should be ok in that size tank.

Yes, it should be fine with your stock you have. But as above ^^ get a young one and let it grow in your tank. I've kept them in community tank before without any problems and have one now in my (slightly more aggressive) community tank.

hmm i'm not a fan of them in community tanks, i took mine back in the end are you all sure your's are fine - i setup moonlight led's and as soon as lights out it would be out bullying the others none stop - i'd had it from a small en aswell but they like there territory even more aas they get bigge

Yea, I'd avoid RTS in a tank like that. Sure you can get it young and let it grow up. But that does not stop the nature of the fish, It will and can eat your other fish if it wants.

That's fine thanks for advice il look for something different just need a good centre piece

a RTS is THE WORST "community" type fish out there.....i still dont know why people classify a RTS as a "community" type fish....they are territorial, semi-aggressive, and they will become the tank bully in a matter of days, you will regret this decision unless you enjoy watching your other fish being chased around 24/7

I had one in a 50 gallon by itself and I never saw it, last week I put it in my 125 and I see her all the time swimming around even playing with my yoyo and clown loaches
