hi, ive been running my tank with a interpret pf1 filter for about 3 months now,
it has a foam media, a carbon and a superfine media in it.
my question is, is the carbon required as i've read that it is used up quickly
anyways.
thanks in advance

The carbon is meant to be replaced every two to three weeks. I use a pf1 in my 10 gallon. I replace it once a month. Never replace your normal filter foam though. Just a gentle rinse in the water you've taken out your tank during a water change. I usually do this once a month as well and put in New fine filter floss. Using this this routine has kept my water crystal clear. Great little filter imo.

ok thanks. it was only what i had read elsewhere that it is only useful after meds have been used to soak up excess

it does have a few more uses than that. it also absorbs harmful chemicals from your your water. like residual heavy metals should there be any when you change your water or add new décor. its just a little extra protection. better to have than not eh. it only costs pence to preplace per month for a little piece of mind.
