Anyone know how the hood is removed from the tank? There are plastic covers screwed over the hinges but once these are removed, I can't work out how to separate them & don't want to break anything.

So a year on, anyone have any ideas as this is driving me mad!

Looking at mine, I assume it is glued/sealed along the top edge of the glass that meets the plastic as I can't see any adhesive on the lower bit that overlaps... as to how to remove it... no idea.  I don't think I would.

Why are you trying to remove the hood?

Wait, you mean the top and not the rim.  Silly me.

From what I can see... you unscrew the screws and it removes that top plastic piece... then it looks like you'd lift the hinges upward out of the groove

That's exactly what I thought. But once those lugs are removed the hinge still won't lift out, either when flat or upright. There must be a trick to it that doesn't result in a pile of broken plastic...

I've tried this on two of these now so there's something peculiar with the design.

Here's a pic (hopefully). The lug on the RHS is longer than the lug on the LHS which is stopping the hinge pin coming out. The other hinge is the same but mirrored & the other tank is also the same.

Hmmmm... and tilting the lid doesn't make the bar that goes across fit?  Looks like the bar is angled.  :/
