Internal Parasite Treatment?

hi just a quick question i was just stocking up on meds (incase of a problem) and was just woundering what internal parasite meds would you recomend for me?

preferbly one that wont hurt other fish if they dont have any internal parasites? also i am in the uk so importing meds will be hard for me

I know of two good ones, General Cure by API doesn't harm other fish, but maybe the filter. And Clout is very strong, I haven't used it, but I'd probably recomend using a QT for Clout

Hi thanks mate. Now here's another question do no where I can get the general cure from api I googled it Android couldn't find anywhere that sells it : (

Hmm, here in America its commonly available at PetSmart...have you checked you LFS? Isn't the british equivilant of PetSmart Maidenhead Aquatics or Pets At Home?

I think the two meds mentioned are USA.
You can get general cure from the USA on eBay.
UK meds would probably be flubendazole or fluke solve.
I haven't used flubendazole but fluke solve contains 50% praziquantel and is easy and safe to use.
No adverse affect on fish, plants or filter.

Will these kill all internal parasite cause i dont wont to buy one and then have to buy another because say one dsnt solve tapeworm i then have to find and buy tape worm medication

Not too sure tbh.
I've read of aquarists using a combination of the two so that would suggest possibly not.
Flubendazole appears to have a wider range action treating hex, callumanus and tapeworm.
Fluke solve is most effective for tapeworms.

a couple of thoughts here really . 1stly these meds can have a limited shelf life , and you may not use them bvefore they are past there date .

2ndly the biggest cause that allows fish to sucumb to disease is stress . far better to concentrate on keeping the fish happy than worrying about having every med in the sun on standby imo

i only asked because 1: some of my fish recently have died for some reason (symptoms include dropsy stomach shrinkage(my bn only) stomach swelling not eating and not doing anything)

2: i think i need to be prepered just in case but i will take your point on short shelf lifes and trying to keep them happy
i only worry about tape worm for these reasons

1:for a tape worm to excist a flea needs to eat it and my cats have had fleas this year because of the high count of those little suckers and one may have gone in to the fish tank etc

2: i worry for my self aswell considering tape worms make you go blind

no need to appologise , you didnt come across as moody :good:

if you have had some recent fish losses the 1st thing you want to rule out is a water quality issue . so with that in mind , if you havent already got 1 i would suggest a better purchase would be a good test kit .

hi yeh i have one water stats are perfect
ammonia=0
nitrites=0
nitrates 10ppm

so with that ruled out im now stumped about those 5 fish 1 of which is still fighting for her life she is a dg so if it bactirial not much hope tbh considering their so supsepptable to them

she is in a quarenteen tank i put her in last night
