I really wanted a pike cichlid that wasn't common. I have a pet store in my city that can get you pretty much anything. For 80 dollars I got an amazing one. I don't even know what species it is. It's about 7-8 inches long and is very irridescent. I was told it was caught in the Rio Esquibo. I've had it almost 2 years now, feeding it pellets, freeze dried krill, frozen krills, strips of beef on occassion and once in a blue moon a couple rosey reds. Since I can't identify the exact species, I've given up trying to spawn it and have it housed with a ctenopoma acutirostre. I'll send some pics soon.

yes pics would most definatly help some. but being that after 2 years at least, you can probably rule out any of the lugubis and wallaci groups, that pretty much leaves you with saxatillis and reticulata group pikes.

but in the mean time here is a link to mostly cichlids which is run by vinny kutty, whom I think knows more about pikes than anybody else.
