Hi guys, yesterday i put 3 filters into a newly set up 90gal tank. One hasnt been used in a while, a fluvel 305 external, and 2 were very mature having been on different tanks for over a year. The two mature, alone would probably be just short on filtering this tank. I have done my tests but the test kit isnt great tbh and they show very very small amounts of nitrate an no nitrite. Are these two filters sufficient for an instant cycle do you think as i have a fish on hold in the LFS an I would like to go an pick it up today as I have the time. Thanks.

any time you clone tanks there's the possibility of a mini cycle. you should add 5ppm of ammonia liek a fishless cycle, check 12 hrs later if it's being processed to 0 ammonia and nitrite. do this for a few days, if it's steady at 0 then you can add fish.

do it now and you risk putting the fish through a cycle.
