Just curious: I've noticed that a weird number of really interesting and popular fish come from Lake Inle in Burma. Has anybody on here ever tried an Inle biotope? It would be an interesting project. It's a really unique habitat.

It’s an interesting area for sure, quite limited species right now and no ‘feature’ fish I think plants would be tricky too? Due to damming it’s at real risk too with water levels meters below where is natural and fishermen being driven from their platform homes.

;)As soon as I saw the title I knew you’d be all over this*.
You’re dying to set one up aren’t you? It’s eating away at you isn’t it? It’s the last thing you think of at might before nodding off isn’t it? First thing you think about in the morning? It’s waking you up in the middle of the night isn’t it? I could go on….and on….and on……and often do.

Cmon Wills mate! If not now when?
Go for it as we used to say back in the 80s and just do it as the trainer people say.

Do we need a poll to push you into it?😂😅

* Digging into this places back pages ive found you knee deep in every Lake Inle thread. I must admit it looks a great idea mate.

ha ha ha ha

Seems like most of the fish are very small. But wow, a 50+g tank with huge schools of all these amazing microrasboras, a ton of floating plants, and woodwork recreating the posts of a fisherman's house?

@ClownLurch haha wow you've gone all in on me havent you lol. I'm not sure tbh, I've honed in on it a few times because I have unreasonably hard water like Lake Inle but I also have high nitrate so a bit to deal with so down the RO route for me so not limited to hard water species. Although... because of my research I'm very into hard water species like Rainbow Fish, Livebearers, Rift Lake Cichlids, Central American Cichlids, Synodontis and of course Lake Inle species haha :)

I do like @WhistlingBadger idea with some bamboo poles in the water with a bed of sand and I'd guess valis and crypts? I'm just waiting for a couple of things to work out at home but pretty soon its likely I'll have a home office to work out 70-80% of the time and part of my plan to stave off the lonleyness is to have tanks in the room - primarily the 4 foot from my 'impossible dream' journal and my 100 litre, probably with my puffers but getting slightly itchy feet... and I have 2 30 litre tanks spare too so who knows ;)

Lets see if anyone beats me to it!

they have really cool fishing nets there

idk i just searched it up and this is what showed up

Awwwwh maaaan it’d be the coolest thing ever.
My waters 340ppm so that’s why I followed up on a few of @Wills mentions of it.

Weve a bamboo plant in the garden that gets cropped to four feet around this time of year ever year. It’s about 18 feet high atm. Plenty of fisherman’s house poles there @Wills mate! If you’re ever passing you can have em.
