Hi all

Please assist.. I have a 60 litre tank with approx 15 various Malawi fish in.. I've lost many fish to this cause and am hoping there is something I can do to save this one individual and prevent future incidents.

Fish looks like this: http://us.123rf.com/400wm/400/400/moori/moori0809/moori080900026/3521579-tropical-yellow-fish-from-lake-malawi-africa.jpg

Its been attacked and has pretty much lost most of its tail. I've separated the fish from the others .. for the entire day (approx 8 hours now), the fish is alive but lying on its side.. will it survive? Can I treat it with anything? This happened to a similar fish months back, it managed to recover after many days but ultimately did not live. Can I prevent attacks amongst Malawi?

the problem here is that you've got very aggressive and territorial fish packed into a tank that is too small. The recommended MINIMUM tank size for malawi like the yellow lab you have posted is around the 55g mark. You aren't going to prevent any more fighting unless you get a much bigger tank I'm afraid.
