Just over a week ago I posted regarding what appeared to be a coumnaris infection affecting my blue tetras. They seemed to be getting better but over the weekend three died and the remaining fish - whilst swimming and feeding OK - still looks much the same. Unfortunately this evening I found one of the Emperor's going the same way and one dead. I have been treating the tank for 10 days now (King British fungus and fin rot control - it's supposed to deal with columnaris too). The water parameters are fine (ammonia zero, nitrite zero, pH 6.4, temp. 24 degrees C).

Has anyone got any suggestions? Also what are the chances of the other fish (corydoras adolphi and a bristlenose plec) getting it? Is it some kind of tetra disease rather than columnaris? I'm getting concerned now that I may end up losing all of them and I can't remove the healthy fish to my other tank as I risk tranferring the infection with them.

Thanks,

Elaine

If its a bad strain of columnaris uk meds won't always cure it.
I would do a water change and run some black carbon as it sounds like the meds are doing nothing.
Add anti internal bacteria med by interpet and pimafix.

Thanks, Wilder. I have just managed to get a hospital tank set up and transferred the remaining two sick tetras in. Will try your suggestion.

Good luck as if it is a bad strain of columnaris your'e going to need it.
