What would you pick? i don't have a answer, because, when i get my cat i might live in a unit, so i can't put a flap door, but, if i have a house i will let my cat go outside. So i actually don't know.

completely depends on the area you live in and the cat in question IMO

Depends where you live, but i would always let it out if possible :)

I still can't make up my mind yetbut will in the next three years.

It does completely depend on the circumstances. But now that I have a garden, I allow my cat access. But only when I am at home. He goes out on his own though, but generally only stick to my own garden or the adjacent gardens. However, he's been an indoor cat for almost 7 years now but he loves rolling in the sand and having a good stretch and a jump. And he really looks so much better and healthier for it :good:

Our oldest cat would not go out anyway even though the door was open she wouldnt go past the step. Now we have the 2 exotics aswell we have built a large run on the back of the house so they can go in and out through the window but they dont go out that much
Too many High speed motor bikes doing something like 70 mph on the 30mph road out side our place to risk letting them out anyway

Our cat is an indoor cat but we do let her outside. The trouble is she prefers it indoors! If it's slightly windy or wet then she'll sit by the back dor, do an about turn and sit back on the sofa in the warm! She ain't daft!!

My eldest cat, Lily, hates the outdoors and is strictly indoor. But she is a Turkish angora and hates getting her long hair dirty. I don't know about Lucy, I may lead train her and then take her out supervised. The babies really don't care right now as long as there's easy access to a nipple. They will, however, be inside until which ever one or two I decide to keep are vaccinated. Too many ferals in my neighborhood and though the ferals seem healthy, I'm not taking any chances with disease. Also, there are so many distractions in my house (Birds, fish, dogs, humans, breakables, other cats), that I'm pretty sure they won't be bored if I choose to keep them indoors. I'd love to buy one of those carpet cat gyms, not the super big obnoxious ones, but there's one at PetSupermarket for $120 give or take, that is a nice size and has a pretty long scratching post, perfect for Lily, who has a long stretch, and it's got little crawl spaces where the cats can get to, but the dogs can't.

Boy, that was a ramble. Sorry.

my cat loves the outdoors, she lives with my dad at the tail end of a village, so she lives in a quiet cul-de-sac surrounded by fields.
she loves to bring the outdoors in as well, mice, birds, and sleep in the garden, come in, jump on a lap, and because she's long haired, she gets slugs stuck in her fur...GROSS.

she also likes to go outside when it's raining, get soaked, come in and meow a lot to get fussed, dried, combed, then straight back outside to do it alllll over again. tart.

When we first got Toby from the sanctuary, they made me promise to keep him indoors.I never thought how difficult that would be! From the second we brought him home, it was a constant battle, and I'm afraid we only managed to keep him in for 3 days! He's just an outside cat, while he's happy to come inside, (he hasn't moved from the sofa yet today), he will sit there and cry if the cat flap's blocked and he can't get out.
Mollie on the other hand also has all the freedom she wants, and moves from the bed only for meals, toilets and to watch the goings on in the fish tank.

My mum keeps her cat in from his tea time to his breakfast time, because the first week they had him,he got hit by a car,and both his hips were shattered, and she thinks he'll be safer inside at night because he's a black cat. She's probably right, but I've seen him have several near misses during the day as well, but he's been used to his freedom for too long to keep him in all of the time.

I think I'm guilty of having one of those (not sure they can possibly come any bigger) :look: because my cat is largely an indoor cat and I work fairly long hours, i feel he must have something (other than my new sofa rip up) to play with. But typicall he's not overly interested - though he loves the high vantage point and snuggle bed to sleep on. However I'm sure my new kitten will have fun on it.

Note: that's *not* me in the photo - it's just a pic from the supplier.

I@ve never seen one that size before! Where did you get it from? I WANT IT!!!

Jesus christ Bloo, you must have a big house to have room for that! lol

ours just like the top of the kitchen cupboards for they're vantage point!

My cat (well, she's her own cat, but she graciously allows me to buy her food) was a stray that adopted me. Im not sure I could keep her inside if I wanted to...
