..how long can you keep these in your tank before they start to rot & cause nitrate problems?

Any users of these please let me know your experiences.

Thanks :)

I use these sometimes for killifish breeding. I cut them up and use in small box filters, sandwiched between foam floss.
I keep them in the tank 2weeks max. and then replace. Performing water-changes weekly or bi-weekly for smaller tanks..

They break down but my fish seem to eat them once this starts to happen. My Bristlenose especially seem t to yum them up. And I notice my plants start to put on a growth spurt too.

I leave mine until transparant lace-like patches are showing, then remove and replace. Shrimp really love to pick the biofilm off them, and snails usually munch them too.

Thank you all for your input - I received 100no 5-7inch A-Grade leaves today :fish:

I wait until I can't see a noticeable darkening of the water any more, 3-4 weeks. I don't keep them in my tank with shrimp anymore-they just strip them bare in no time!
