Just a quick question,

When people are talking about the inch per gallon rule, with regards to stocking levels, are you talking US or Imp gallons?
As an example, on a 125L tank, its roughly 6 gal difference = 6inch difference.

Just wondered thats all.

Regards
Mark

Generaly it US gallons for the inch per gallon rule.
however it is more of a guideline that a "set in stone" rule.

As The-Wolf said, it's more of a guide than a rule. If you are overfiltered and you have a good maintanence schedule with weekly water changes, you can exceed it some as long the fish aren't big waste producers like plecos or oscars (to me those fish are more like 1" to 3 gallon). For beginners however, I think it is best to stay under the 1" per gallon until you are comfortable with what you are doing, especially if the fish you choose are more delicate.
