I recently rescued a CT and a PK with major health issues. Both had Ich, parasites, and had been in severe fights with bettas and/or fin-nipping fish. The PK had septicemia, and the CT was greviously wounded. Because they looked like they wouldn't pull through at first, I did not name them. But I'm happy to report that both have made amazing recoveries.
The problem? I usually name bettas as soon as I get them, but I'm stumped on these two. I like to have names relevant to their personality, appearence, or manner of rescue, but I just can't think of any for these guys, because so many horrible things happened to them, they're pretty average looking, and I don't know too much about their personality this early on. So here's some info on each fish, and maybe you can help suggest a name.

Unnamed Betta 1 - Dark greyish-hued male plakat with red and blue on finnage. Agressive, but has a noticable swimming disability and thus moves rather slowly and seems fearful of neighboring males. Very interactive and interested in humans. Nearly died from septcemia; also had Ich, internal and external parasites, severe facial wounds, and badly nipped finnage.
Unnamed Betta 2 - Standard red/blue mixed color CT male. Absolutely HUGE. Hyper-agressive and flighty around people. Poses and flares non-stop. Was missing majority of finnage and had extensive injuries to the face, gills, and sides. Also had Ich and a heavy parasite load.

Here's pics of them - note that they are still in recovery, and while they look better every day, the CT especially still looks rough because of the fin damage.

PK - He has darkend up since this photo was taken, and the reddish hue at the base of his tail (body, not fin - red on fins is just markings) is gone (it was remenants from all of the hemmoraging he had in that area).

CT - Looks great from this angle because you can't see his stub-tail or the huge holes in his anal fin. The tail is red and blue, or is at least coming in that color.

I dont know about the PK, but for the CT i thought of Spencer, dont ask me how, i just like the name :D

I like to give my bettas names that probably no one would ever think of so here are some of my past betta names.

1. Barbatus
2. Darconio
3. Flambanio

And my current betta is named Herculius. :D

I like Heracles (or Herekles, or Hercules) for the plakat, because even though he has trouble swimming and is scared of other males, he's a really strong little guy who's pulled through a lot. As for the CT... I can't think of anything at the moment.

Ares for the PT
and i can't think up any for the CT right know

How about Lucky for the Pk [looks like he's lucky to be alive] and Chucky for the Ct [has a little evil look in his eye!]

I name mine after their personalities mainly too.
Moody Moo [Miss moo for short] picked on her tank mate.
Scary Fairy [Fairy for short] the cowardly picked on one.
Perky [because she is]
Porky [he definitely is]
Bubbles [sorry, West Ham colours, claret and blue!]

PK: Boxer... he just looks like a little fighter. And for the CT: Wayne. I don't know why, he just looks like a Wayne.

Wow, great suggestions everyone! I'll be saving some of them for future fish - I have a baby goldfish I'm raising ATM and some of these suggestions are going in a hat for him.
I ended up naming the bettas on my own - more because I was working on the graphics for the webpage of the rescue and needed to think of something, and my laptop has no internet acess to see what was posted. I'm naming the PK Warsaw to honor the brave survivors of the Warsaw ghetto during the Holocaust. His suffering is nothing compared to theirs, but I wanted to name him something that related to what a survivor he was.
The CT is named Taur, a variation of taurus, the species name of domesticated cattle (Bos taurus). Taurus applies also to bulls, and something about him just reminded me of something big, strong, and agressive, like a bull, or a male elephant (also called a bull). Tusker was taken though, so Taur it is.

Thanks so much everyone! When I'm pretty sure the goldfish baby is going to live, I'll tell ya which of these names I chose for him. Heck, some of these would work for the fishie RP characters at Liberated (one of my RPG sites).
