Are those for real fish? I'm not sure. It would be ubsurd if they are - 2 little fish included? What's that supposed to mean... but it say that there's a 'scooper' to 'take the fish out'. Something tells me you wouldn't want little kids taking LIVE fish out of the tank to play with...

Well it does talk about it coming with an air pump "to keep the little fish alive" which i think suggests that it is intended for keeping fish in long term, we're talking about a tank smaller than a breeding net here- i would never put more than one guppy sized fish in a breeding net let alone for long term living in.

Heres another ebay horror, basically its 10cm long 5cm high;

Those tanks are obviously made for people who can't fully admire a fishes' beauty by itself. They have to buy a cheesy, cruel tank just so their house looks good because the poor fish can't do that for them
couldn't have said it any better.

For the record, those microtanks are not meant for live fish. The "two small fish" it comes with are plastic, as can be seen in the photos if you look closely enough. The air pump "keeps them alive" because the bubbles agitate the water and make the fish move about ;)

This tank isn't meant for live fish either. Take a look at the seller's other items...
Hint: they're miniatures for doll houses
This explains why the auction says "fill with tiny ornimental fish swiming in [plastic water]."

Seriously guys, let's not jump to conclusions about everything, eh? :p

Um....

Yeah, I'll just keep my mouth shut... :fun: lest it lead me into trouble.....

My grandmother likes dollhouse stuff, but I'd make her a cooler looking tank...

Actually I don't think it's meant for real fish. It mentions 'plastic water' for ornamental fish to swim in. I've seen something like that in a lava lamp set up, they were plastic fishes. I just can't imagine that they would actually be used for real fish. :dunno: ; you'd have to be :hyper:

OK so that point has already been made. apologys... :*)

Actually, I've seen the artificial ones, they have them in the blood test room in the Children's Outpatients at my local hospital, to keep the kids' attention away from the needle going in. Not a bad idea- does the job and no fish have to suffer. Though they do look *very* artificial, just about enough to keep your attention for the 30 seconds or whatever it takes to fill the sample tube.

Can I say... DUH! Thos micro-tank things are not for real fish. I have one myself :) They come with two 1cm long fish (I have puffers) made of PLASTIC. You bung a bettery in the top and a drop of washing up liquid, and there is a air pump thing that rotates around to make the 'fish' move.

UPDATE about those micro tanks that you were raving about (that are not for real fish). I took some of the pesky snails out of my comm. and put them in the micro tank thing. Great for all you who get nervous at the sight of a danio zooming around. There's seven of them (they are the tiny ones that everyone hates) with my puffer fish (that is made of plastic) Egad, I've just remembered puffers love snails! Eek:p And you could probably put sea monkeys in it. Or other live food that you were going to keep for a while. Anyway, it saves killing the snails. I'm just after the medium size see through one that I see crawling about...

I have one of those microtanks. My dad got it for me in japan. It is 'overstocked' if I do say so myself, but I don't think the plastic fish mind. It is 90mm long, 45m wide and 55mm high. It is smaller than that tank on Ebay, yet it holds two clownfishes and an angelfish ;) the air pump makes them swim.

I know this point ha been beaten into the ground, but seriously, if you look at that picture that is the 'miniature tank' pease note that it is not an actual room it is in. It has to be in a dollhouse.

the lfs i went to today ahd a 1'x1'x2' with a photo farme like thing round it which was quite cool, they had cut a hollow into the wall to fit it. i think it went throught to the other side. that was so cool

I've seen 'picture frame' tanks in a shop in Manchester UK with live fish in, but couldn't really see how deep they were, or how deep set in the wall (if at all)

To be honest I like my fish in a natural looking environment, have decided it much better compliments them.
