my new male has had cloudy eyes ever since he came into work, so i kept him there and treated him with bacterial meds and melafix but it never cleared up so i just presumed he was born like that

but now Im unsure about whether he can see at all cause he never flares at the females, he doesnt react to food let alone any other fish around...

take a look at his eyes...let me know what you think? =[

i put some flake in before but its mostly untouched =[ i think if he comes across it he will eat it but other wise no =[

Have you tried lightly tapping the water in that spot to see if he senses the motion and decides to swim over?

ive just tried it now, he can sense the motion but i dropped some freeze dried bloodworms in and nothing, my other 2 ate them but he sort of didnt look like he saw them....

cloudy eyes can be a sign of a blind fish. Are both eyes cloudy or just one? i'm thinking maybe pop-eye, but the eye doesnt look enlarged in the picture. Maybe he s blind, just treat him extra sepcial, you could use plastic tweezers to dangle food in front of him, even if his eyes are blind he can still sense and smell the food.

both eyes are cloudy, ive been treating him at work for about 3 weeks and its never gotten any better! poor boy =[

thats sounds like a good plan with the tweezers, thanks!

such a pretty fish, thats really sad if true!

glad to hear your doing whatever you can to still take care of him

are they cloudy as in a hazy dark blue colour? if so theyre most probably cataracts, they wont bother the fish in anyway, fish can survive perfectly normal without eyes, they have a lateral line for detecting pressure changes, so they dont get prayed upon, they also have a nose to smell food, and the swim bladder maintains their balance in the water column

I had a white dragon type betta like him - try feeding live food by using a pair of tweezers near him, the movement in the water should entice him, if he aint' going for anything moving then he might have a medical problem (tum).

Being blind won't stop him eating but if he is lethargic and not going for moving food then there is something wrong.
