hey =]

I'm interested in the species Aphyosemion gardneri and want to buy some eggs to hatch of my own =]

I understand the hatching process etc

but just a few questions before hand if that's okay!

Do you need to keep them in a species only tank?

I have a 28 gallon with some mountain minnows and silver tipped tetras [non nippy] zebra danios and a guppy, are these suitable tank mates?

other than that i have a 10 gallon but that has an albino shark in and i dont think that would be a good idea? but if you can prove me wrong lol

are the care for these hard or easy, is there anything i should know? [I've seen care sheets but i was just wondering if this species is different]

one last thing - FUNDULOPANCHAX NIGERIANUS - is this the same species? as one website told me it was

I think thats it! thanks!

Hi MM42,
Yes Fundulopanchax gardneri nigerianus is the same species Fp. gardneri from Nigeria, You might also see a location something like Fp. gardneri Jos Plateau.
The nigerianus is dropped but its one in the same species. Do not mix locations though.
OK for keeping the fish I would be inclined to rehome the shark and keep the 10 gallon as a species tank.
They are a pretty easy beginners fish and should present you with little or no problems.
Below is link to a little bit of an article I wrote for another member but will be applicable to you also

Hope that helps
