I'm Man Enough To Admit I Could Be Wrong.....

I have had mine for about 4 months now and the two biggest are around 2" and they were about 1" when I got them. Ive been feeding them tubifex and blood worms. They also eat flake food and any sinking pellots I put in there. Im thinking the one that gets 6" is more common around here, but I have only seem them for sale at one fish store where I got mine and he said they are very seasonal. Thanks for all the research Wolf.

How big is that one in the 2nd pic where you can only see his tail?

If you scroll across you'll see all of him ;)
loach on left is 6", loach on right is 7.5" (approx)

oops! HAHA! I cant believe I did that, wasnt even paying attention.

Those are some really nice Loaches. That one on the top right in the first pic is awesome.

:kewlpics:

I have 3 of these guys and they are over 3 yrs old and live in a 75US gal tank. They are about 5" in length and look very similar to the one on the left in your pics. I would tend to think that my 3 yoyo's are adults and haven't grown for a while (except for getting fatter since they are spoiled in my house now)

The two fish in your lower pic look to be very different to me. The patterns and even the texture of the fins and such. Very interesting that you have ended up with these 2 examples together.

I've had three Yo Yo's for about 6 months now. They were just over an inch when I received them. Two are a pale coloration while the third one is quite bright. This particular fish has bonded with the clown loaches and spends most of his time with them. They seem to sleep together as well as swim together. He's about 3 1/4 inches in size.

The other two loaches - pale coloration - are now a strapping 4 inches in length and growing both length wise and girth wise. There was a rapid growth spurt when I got them but it has now slowed down. They'll get a new larger tank next month which should prove interesting.

Some sites, I think, are stating that almorhae has been renamed to lohachata.

Are the almorhae more colourful than the lohachata? I always remember seeing some young yoyos once which were a really bright golden colour, but when in one LFS recently, the yoyos looked rather dull...

Now could it be that I was looking at the different sub-species... or are the juveniles generally more brightly coloured?
