im pretty much splitting my fish stock into half and making a new tank, i have a new filter i want to seed, can i split the mature media in half as well? will this be good enuf to move the fish over immediatly without worry of crash?

You should be able to yes, but it's probably worthwhile keeping an eye on the levels just in case.

Agree with Caz, you should be fine but it's always good to continue daily ammonia and nitrite(NO2) logging on both tanks in a situation like this. Sometimes (rarely) bacteria shut down when they are disturbed and force you to change water for a while. If they were mature, they virtually always come back from this sort of thing.
