Well, so far so good... he is no better, but no worse. I did a 100% change this morning with his meds, stress coat and salt. He is still happy and eating... so fingers crossed!

Thanks, yeah... its hard to see him in such a bad way, but I am doing my best. Just glad he hasn't lost his appetite!!

If it is fin rot, I had very good luck with using Melafix, just follow the instructions on the box. Also, if you haven't already, make sure to read the instructions on the bottle of the medication (not saying you haven't) but some say to medicate for so many days, then do a 25% water change or so.

Yeah, the silver proteinate I got says to treat every 3-4 days, then a 10% change when the problem is treated. Trouble is, I can't leave the water that long, so I did a full change then put new medication in. I hope that its ok. Maybe it needs the build up?? hmmmm

I think the medication needs to build up, sorry i can't remember, is the tank filtered? if so, i would leave it for the medication, otherwise you are taking out the medication in there before it has a chance to work. How long have you been medicating for?
