Hi there --

I've had this 30g tank for about 2 months or so, recently started with Co2 injection and are finally getting good plant growth and algae under control. Fish are all in excellent health. Best of all, my wife loves the tank, too!

Cheers!

:D Lovely

What's the tall plant on the right (with leaves up to the surface)?

That's American Pondweed which I found in the pond of my sisters's garden. Grows like crazy.

The gouramis love the podweed and constantly try to build nests underneath the floating leaves.

very nice tank, that pond weed looks just great, what plant ferts are you using if any?

Cheers Gordon

Hi all --

thanks for your comments!

The pondweed is absolutely fabulous. It grows at an amazing speed: it takes only 2 days for a new leave to reach the surface, at a rate of approx. 2 new leaves per week. You can almost watch it grow! It provides some shadow for the plants underneath, but at 4.5 Watts per gallon, its not a problem.

I have a gourami pair and the male keeps building a "bubble & weed nest" underneath the pondweed leaves, which its fun to watch. He's gotten very aggressive lately, though.

Other than that, I have a pair of angel fish, a school of neon tetras and zebras, plus two algeat eater (a Chinese algeat eater who is rather aggressive, plus a regular one). Not sure if I can put more fish into the 30g tank. Any suggestions what other fish I could get?

Not much fertilization, just two tea spoons of FloraPride per week and root tabs for the amazon swords. Key is good light and Co2, I guess, which I make once a week using yeast, sugar and warm water in an outside container.

Here are some picture I just took:
