I'm getting a 55gal for my birthday, and i'm really excited. Anyways, i've been looking at different stores, comparing prices and stuff. Umm... i think that's all i wanted to say.

By the way, my current 29gal will be a freshwater puffer tank. I know that really limits me to just about 1 type of puffer (as far as i know), but that's ok.

If theres a walmart near you, you can get a 55 for $150 that comes with stand a filter(crappy), a heater, hood, mostly everything besides a good filter. Its a good deal.

Happy early birthday :) & yay for the new tank!

I just got a new 40g for my birthday, hehe. I wanted a 55 or so, but alas my dresser isn't quite long enough.

Congrats on the 55 gallon. I just got a 120 gallon for my birthday. I also had a 29 gallon before that so from a 29 gallon to 120 gallon is a HUGE difference. As of now there is only sand and water in it...I still need to figure out what to cycle it with as I will be putting more aggressive fish in there. I don't want to cycle with danios and then have my fish eat them.

Any idea on what is going into the 55?

I got my 55 started up for about 200$. DIY stand, and then paid for the rest with old gift cards. HAve u decided what u want to put in it. I would recommend Big peaceful cichlids like sevs. Maybe a geophagus species. Good luck with whatever u decide to do.

personally i try to buy nothing from wal-mart....

my tanks are "all-glass" brand name tanks, and i like that, not some perfecta brand walmart junk! (no offense)

dont cheap out on something important like a big tank...

also i beleive all-glass aquariums have a life time warrenty or somthing

Thanks for all the replies. I really don't buy anything from walmart, i'm not a fan. So i won't be pricing out tanks at that store, but thanks for the suggestion. :)

I'll be putting my current fish into my new tank, and i'll be buying more. Check my profile for a list of my current fish. I've never really been a fan of cichlids, so that's not an option. I do want to buy some rare fish, as long as they aren't difficult to keep. I'll keep everyone posted on what i buy.

I have some interesting idea's on how i want to set it up.... everyone will have to wait and see.... :D
