ok today my mum said that for chrismas she'll treat me to a 2ft tank ( i mean i get loads of prezies but what i mean by treat is cause she told me no more tanks) i know its a really really long way away before christmas but ya have to do your research or eveything goes pair shape, i was thinking about putting guppies and female bettas in there and maybe a BN plec cause ma sis breeds them but how many guppies and how many female bettas could i put in there. and i thought sand would be great instead of stones it looks alot neater, but i was wondering how do you clean it when its dirty. i'v got to have plasic plants cause my mum said that the live plants have deseases on them so would this be a good tank setup, any suggestions are welcome.

How many gals will that be over 20gals i'm thinking, silk plants are nice, to clean sand just use a gravel vac, but you hold it higher so you don't suck the sand up, and turn filter off so sand dosn't break the propellar in the filter, good luck.

thanks wilder but what is a gravel vac ( i havent got a clue what one is) i'm not sure how many gallons it would be, but how many guppies and female bettas would i beable to put in there?

yeah, im the only one that is fish crazy in my family..... i have three tanks, i also have a 2 ft tank, its either a 25 gallon high, or maybe a 29 gallon regular....

sand is very hard to clean, i have not learned from experience, but from watching.... i personally use gravel, that way fish can hide/play in it... and its easier to clean, if you want to know what a gravel vac is, check into pythons, it makes it sooo easy to fill/empty and change your tank.... its a kind of hose that attaches to any sink, and you can syphon (not by sucking, it does all the work) out water, you can gravel vac = which means cleaning the tank, and getting all the debry out..., you can fill it back up to.... pythons work really well, our store uses them on our tanks, and i just purchased a 25 ft. kit which includes everything you need, and it was only 39.99

but stay away from sand is my advice, although it looks cool, you dont need it for the fish you want....

my advice for the tank is to turn it into a puffer tank, that is a perfect size for them and they are the funnest/smartest fish to watch, plus they are soooo cute, im getting another small (10 gal) tank to put only puffers in.....

good luck and have fun

yes, sand is hard to clean, but after its clean, its easier than vacuuming gravel. crap can get in between gravel, but not sand. what kind of fish do you have that hide in gravel? puffers need sand.

some kind of eils, and algea eaters, i forgot what its called, but it is yellow, and its a eel and it eats algea, its semi-aggresseive tropical fish..... help!?

dont really want puffers, ow and does anyone know how many guppies and female bettas would i beable to put in there?
